I’m headed off for two weeks.  I’m going to my grandma’s 90th birthday party at my parents place in duluth, then Kris and are are taking a week on Isle Royale NP of backpacking and camping.  It is going to be incredibly awesome I’m sure, we’re both really excited and ready to go.

This is a shot of the progress of the fireplace addition at the cabin. Its been a long time coming but finally is almost in place. It should be really great to sit out and play games, drink, etc with a fire and music under the cover of the porch.

Looks like I can put the pics in here from flickr, and you can see them.  This is a photo of Indy and Bailey from last weekend.

It was a successful fishing trip this year. Lots of fun, lots of fishing, lots of drinking, the usual.

This year it was myself, my brother Paul, another Paul, Nick, and Ryan. We went to Whiskey Jack Lodge in Ontario, on Sturgeon Lake. The lake is about 60 miles long from one end to the other, so there was plenty of space to fish. We had pretty cool weather, with ice still on the lake the first day we got there, but the ice cleared up for the most part by Sunday in time for us to fish our hearts out. The fishing hilight of the trip was at Squaw Lake, where we estimated that our group of 5 caught somewhere in the range of 200 walleye and probably 10 northern. It was very fun.

On the last day of the week, Ryan and I set out to get some star trail shots. Here’s what we came up with:

I woke up early this morning and shot sunrise - pics to come. Its been a busy time the last few weeks but I’ve managed to shoot a bit here and there.

I shot today near North Point, which is on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, WI. It was fun getting up and going to watch sunrise, even though there were pretty heavy clouds on the horizon that delayed seeing the sun for about 45min after sunrise.

I’ve been having a lot of fun this year taking shots like this:

I’ve been working third shift for the early part of the year, and also have been working on a photo a day project so far this year. I’m at 100% so far which has been fun, but challenging. Anyway, since I drive in to work at night, and I end up spending a bit of time here and there in the car playing with the camera, I’ve been able to experiment with different things. Its been lots of fun.

Here’s another one that I like.

I got up early again today and shot sunrise.  I went to Veteran’s Park which is right in downtown Milwaukee, but has plent of chances for good scenery/shots.  I didn’t really shoot much I liked, but did get to bring Indy out and play around with her, which makes it a good day either way.  Here’s one image I did like.
